About Our Organization
About the San Francisco Bay Area Darfur Coalition
The San Francisco Bay Area Darfur Coalition is an alliance of San Francisco Bay Area organizations, groups, and individuals working to stop the genocide in Darfur, help end war in and bring peace to Sudan, and promote anti-genocide strategies for any and all genocidal conflicts around the world. Our activities emphasize awareness and education about the root causes of the current situation in Sudan and advocacy with the US government.
Host of the Bay Area Walk Against Genocide
In 2007, the San Francisco City Council awarded SFBADC Director and President Mohamed E. Suleiman with the city Certificate of Honor. The Save Darfur Coalition also named him a “Darfur Hero” in October 2007.
We make numerous presentations to middle and high school students, colleges, civic organizations, and faith-based groups. SFBADC organizes free open-to-the-public events with speakers, films and discussions throughout the year.
Our leadership is in ongoing communication (by correspondence, phone and personal visits) with the offices of California Senators Feinstein and Boxer and SF Bay Area representatives in Congress on issues regarding Sudan and anti-genocide measures.
